The main idea of the passage

This article is concerned with the topic of New Economy. New Economy, supported by technological innovation and the resultant productivity increase, is here to stay. Nevertheless, as business cycle is not eliminated, there are still ups and downs. At present, it seems that the economy is in its down session. However, with fierce competition and recovered investment, the economy will recover soon.

This passage can be divided into four parts: The first six paragraphs form the first part, telling the reader that New Economy has come, and, although temporarily the growth rate is not impressive, the economy will pick up again with the increase in investment in plants and equipment. The next three paragraphs form the second part: under fierce competition, investment may increase. Paragraphs 10 to 14 form the third part: computers are playing a more and more important role in competition and in economic development, and the investment in computers and computing technology will increase, thus bringing about economic growth. The last five paragraphs form the fourth part, which tells us: unlike 10 years ago, venture capital companies are becoming more cautious; however, the investment will increase, and economic growth will go up again.
