Summary

The creation of the single European market is a grand project, whose success depends on many factors and will benefit both businesses and individuals. So far a single currency, the Euro, has been adopted. However, for the market to materialize, the governments of the member countries should, first of all, reach a consensus. Besides, other measures should be taken, such as the adoption of unified market mechanisms and practices, the overcoming of differences in relevant laws and in administrative rules and standards, the exchange of information between member countries, and the improvement in economic development and infrastructure, etc. Otherwise, the Euro will deliver only a small fraction of its potential economic benefits.
